How can Acupuncture help?

YNSA stands for Yamamoto New Scalp Acupuncture. Dr. Yamamoto is a practicing physician in Japan. He coined the term YNSA to differentiate his style of scalp acupuncture from traditional chinese scalp acupuncture, which is quite different. Chinese scalp acupuncture dates back many thousand years, and is an effective style of treatment. However in terms of the size/types of needles, the type of needle manipulation and the points themselves, chinese acupuncture of the scalp is a very different technique than is YNSA.

YNSA, Dr. Yamamoto's Japanese style of scalp acupuncture, is very effective for brain injury, including stroke, headache, and most kinds of musculoskeletal pain (hand pain, arthritis, foot pain, traumatic injury, shoulder pain, back pain, sciatic pain, hip pain, knee pain, and even disturbances of equilibrium). It is basically a Japanese style of acupuncture that originated with Dr Yamamoto's unique style over the past 40 years. It is similar to a microsystem approach as seen in German ear acupuncture, or Korean hand acupuncture, and can be used in conjunction with traditional Chinese acupuncture styles, as well as French energetic or other microsystem acupuncture paradigms.

YNSA can help the recovery of injured tissue. A common application would be a migraine headache or a moderate to severe concussion. Acupuncture appears change blood flow and neurotransmitter patterns in the brain. In the case of migraine headaches, the pain relief is often immediate and dramatic. After several treatments the pain pathways are modified in a way to allow for lasting pain relief. Keep in mind acupuncture merely acts as a catalyst to remind the body to heal itself, holistically and without side effects. In the case of concussions the pain is intense and there is the concern a second head injury could lead to a severe and permanent brain impairment. Acupuncture applied immediately will quickly control the pain, and speed up recovery of the injured brain tissue, decreasing the amount of time the athlete or child is vulnerable to an accidental second head injury.
